Santa Monica Studio announced on X on Wednesday that it has delayed God of War Laufey's release to May 20th, 2027. The studio's post did not state the game's previous release date.

The studio said it plans to use the time until launch "putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential." It said it will "make the most of each moment until then."

According to the post, the game was revealed in June and follows Faye's journey through the Everywhen. The studio said it has been "deeply grateful" for the excitement since the reveal. It added that it does not take for granted the trust fans have placed in it to make "an extraordinary experience."

Santa Monica Studio thanked players for their patience on behalf of the team. It said "we'll be back to share more updates soon" but gave no date for those updates.
